SCA-212 is a highly effective acid corrosion inhibitor designed to give excellent corrosion protection on casing, tubing and downhole tools in contact with hydrochloric acids up to 275 ̊F (135 ̊C). Commonly used alloys N-80, J-55, 13Cr and 22Cr can be inhibited effectively with SCA-212. Optimized based on traditional corrosion inhibitors, SCA-212 introduces multiple functional components, which can form a tough, persistent film on metal surfaces blocking the corrosive conditions as well as the corrosive impact of fluid turbulence. Compared to the traditional products that contain propargyl alcohol based corrosion inhibitor, SCA-212 has no propargyl alcohol component and is more environmentally friendly. Additions of small amounts of SCA-212 (2.5-10 gpt) can give good corrosion inhibition against HCl fluids. Intensifiers can be used to improve the performance when higher temperature and severe conditions are anticipated. SCA-212 is compatible with common oilfield brines.
